6 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE ADVERTISING ON FACEBOOK

We know how easy it is to get lost when it comes to web marketing tactics. There are many: video creation, blog creation, email marketing, organic referencing, paid referencing, etc. There’s plenty of options!

The truth is that no one can do everything, or at least not everything the right way. We need to choose the right channels to put our money and energy into, because if we give a fraction of effort on each platform, the chances of success get slimmer.

We all know this because you (like us) check your Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat (for the younger ones) notifications multiple times a day. Guess what? Your customers too.

That’s not surprising, but that doesn’t mean either that you should invest all your expenses in all platforms. However, there is one social network that all marketing specialists cannot ignore: Facebook. Here are six reasons why you should be advertising on Facebook.

# 1: YOUR AUDIENCE IS ON FACEBOOK

Facebook has a user base larger than the population of China! As of the third quarter of 2017, Facebook had 2.07 billion active users. Facebook offers businesses the largest advertising opportunity since Google. So yes, your audience is out there somewhere – you just need to find it! If you have any doubts, just check out these stats, because they are very revealing.

# 2: FACEBOOK ADS; LESS EXPENSIVE THAN YOU MIGHT THINK

They are really affordable when well managed! In fact, the reason you need to advertise is because having organic activity on your business page will not lead to results. Take a look at this article, which unfortunately proves that the days of good organic reach are long gone. Your posts are not showing up in your fans’ news feed (or for very few of them).

On the plus side, Facebook ads tend to cost a fraction of what other online marketing channels cost. For example, earlier this year, we were lucky enough to work with a brand we love (Maison Lavande) to get likes for less than $0.20. (People following the page can then be reached more easily by your ads!)

If you are short on budget, make sure you set reasonable daily budgets for Facebook so that you don’t go overboard with what you are able to spend. If you venture into Facebook advertising with a clear goal and follow a well-defined strategy, the profitability of the platform won’t disappoint you.

# 3: FACEBOOK’S TARGETING IS EXCEPTIONAL

With several types of ads available, the level of precision you can achieve with Facebook’s targeting abilities is impressive. You can literally target Obama or Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Whether it’s by behaviors, interests, demographics, connections, age ranges, languages, or locations, you can dig pretty deep with these targeting abilities and even layer them on top of each other to make sure you get rid of anything less relevant to you. (a technique we call audience exclusion).

# 4: FACEBOOK IS EFFECTIVE IN PUSHING YOUR PROSPECTS FURTHER INTO THE SALES CYCLE

Still nervous? Try remarketing on Facebook with personalized audiences. This strategy works great for marketing specialists because remarketing works by targeting an audience that has already visited your site (or interacted with your brand in the case of Facebook). These people are then more likely to be interested in your products or offers. If you are already doing paid search (Adwords), try retargeting non-converters via Facebook ads.

# 5: FACEBOOK MAKES IT EASY TO FIND NEW QUALIFIED PEOPLE

Once you find an audience that converts really well, you can (almost) clone them. The feature called similar audiences allows you to create a similar audience to the one you are already using, based on age, gender, interests, etc. Facebook will then reach new people who are similar to that audience and therefore likely to be interested in your business.
Lookalike audiences can also be built with a conversion pixel or simply fans of your Facebook page. You can also further define the size and targeting options to ensure that your lookalike audience accurately reflects your regular buyers.

#6 PEOPLE SPEND A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Like 40 million other people, your business needs a Facebook page. The average person spends about 35 minutes on Facebook content per day. Facebook has a large and engaged user base that spends a lot of time on it, every day of the year. Yet Facebook only has 2 million active advertisers. It’s something to think about!
That’s it for us! We hope we’ve clarified the benefits of advertising for your business. However, we encourage you to check out our latest article on Facebook targeting to help you better build your ads and get a better return on investment!
